Where Produce & Art Meet

Show students that nature can provide some unexpected art supplies by turning vegetables into paint. Start with colorful veggies, such as carrots, red cabbage, and beets. Put each type of vegetable in its own pot and boil in water. Remove the veggies, then add one tablespoon of vinegar to each pot of now-colored water. Provide the children with brushes, cotton fabric, and
veggie liquid after it’s cooled off, of course. Once everyone has painted a “masterpiece,” hand out Vegetable Seed Packet Variety Packs and “25 Ways To Go Green” Seeded Paper Bookmarks.
